The international committee would like to invite you to join the 8th EFITA and 8th WCCA conferences. The conference will be held from 11th to 14th July 2011 at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, in the Czech Republic. This conference strives to provide researchers, industries, politicians and professionals with the opportunity to build connections between and among different developments in the use of information technologies. The conference language is English.

The conference is co-organized with the 5th ECPLF, the 8th ECPA conferences as there is an established tradition of bringing ECPA and ECPLF together.

After one year (Reno) and two years (Wageningen 2009), we are having again the opportunity to bring the world of ICT specialists in agriculture together. The conferences will offer a unique insight into the most recent research and development in precision agriculture. At the same time, the latest scientific results from worldwide research, field studies and practical application of these new technologies will be presented.

The key topic for EFITA/WCCA 2011 congress will be Rural Digital Agenda for 2020 and ICT-technologies, and knowledge management for integrated and sustainable farm management in the whole world

The Digital Agenda 2010 is Europe's strategy for a flourishing digital economy by 2020. It outlines policies and actions to maximise the benefit of the Digital Revolution for all. The overall aim of the Digital Agenda is to deliver sustainable economic and social benefits from a digital single market based on fast and ultra fast internet and interoperable applications. Digital technologies have enormous potential to benefit our everyday lives and tackle social challenges. The Digital Agenda focuses on ICTs capability to reduce energy consumption, support ageing citizens' lives, revolutionises health services and deliver better public services. ICTs can also drive forward the digitisation of cultural heritage providing online access for all.

The 2011 conference will be focused on how the above-mentioned Agenda has to be adapted for rural regions and also for the third world countries. It will also bring an outline of how developing countries and rural regions could profit from future ICT development. The conference will raise different aspects of modifying ICT in order to make it fully accessible for profit of developing countries and rural regions. Last but not least, the question of what has to be done for successful adoption of these new technologies by the third world countries and rural regions will be tackled.
